Comcast’s (CMCSA) Focus Features and Universal Pictures, announced on Monday, who would fill the lead roles in the movie adaptation of E.L. James’ 50 Shades of Grey.
The role of Christian Grey will be filled by Charlie Hunnam, who recently appeared in the robot-kaiju film, Pacific Rim. Hunnam currently stars as Jackson Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy. Dakota Johnson, who appeared in The Social Network and 21 Jump Street will take the role of Anastasia Steele. The movie is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and is expected to hit theaters in August of next year, reports The Associated Press.
Rumors that Hunnam and Dakota would play the lead roles in the Fifty Shades of Grey film started earlier this month. At the time, Universal Studios responded to those rumors by saying that it wasn’t planning any casting offers for the film.
Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter for the movie, says that she isn’t pulling any punches and that “there’s going to be a lot of sex in this film.”
