Johnny Carson Miniseries in the Works

NBC (CMCSA[1]) has announced plans to produce a miniseries about the former king of late night television.

Johnny Carson will be the subject of the project[2] which is based off of Bill Zehme’s 2010 book Carson the Magnificent: An Intimate Portrait. Zehme spent time with the former host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson after his retirement and wrote about the three decades (1962-92) that the show spanned.

Carson is considered by many to be the greatest talk show host of all time, interviewing 22,000 guests during his career. The star — who was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987 — died at age 79 in 2005.

Casting has yet to be announced for the miniseries.
