People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has spoken out against Katy Perry’s use of animals in her Roar music video.
Perry’s Roar features monkeys, elephants and tigers throughout the video. PETA claims that animal “endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods.” The organization also claims that the animals can become stressed due to being hauled to different locations for shooting. PETA also believes that Perry may have used the the Serengeti Ranch, an animal exhibitor, to supply the animals for the video. The group claims that this company is under watch and has been inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) 22 times since 2001, reports The Huffington Post.
PETA claims that the Serengeti Ranch has been issued 13 citations during the 22 times it was inspected by the USDA.
