Kmart Wants to Cash Your Checks

Kmart (SHLD[1]) has announced that most of its U.S. locations will now offer a service that allows customers to cash checks on their local store.

Daily Finance reports that only customers[2] who are part of Kmart’s Shop Your Way rewards program are eligible to cash checks. There are certain limits though as the retailer will only allow its consumers to cash government checks of $2,000 or less, payroll checks of $1,500 or less and even personal checks of $400 or less.

Kmart’s promotion applies to most of its stores and it offers this service for free in some of its locations. Although some states may charge for the retailer’s cash-checking service, Kmart is limiting its fees to a maximum of $3.

Back in July, the chain store came up with a service that allows its customers[3] to order items online beforehand.
