AMC (AMCX) will air the last season of Mad Men, which will consist of 14 episodes, over a two year period.
AMC said that it will air the first seven of the season’s episodes during Spring 2014 and the last seven episodes in 2015. Matthew Weiner, creator of Mad Men, said that the two-part season will allow ‘a more elaborate story’ to be told. Breaking a season into two parts isn’t new for AMC. The network split Breaking Bad, which is about to end, into two seasons as well, reports the Associated Press.
AMC is hoping to increase it’s viewers during the second half of Mad Men’s last season. The company saw its viewers nearly double during the premiere of the second half of Breaking Bad.
Despite Breaking Bad being close to its end and Mad Men entering its final season, AMC won’t be running out of shows. The network has confirmed that it will be airing spin-offs of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.
