Music Mogul Held Hostage, Attacked With Machete

57-year-old Benham Vasseghi is expected to face charges of attempted murder after he attacked Jerry Sharrell with a machete on.

Los Angeles Times reports[1] that Vasseghi showed up uninvited at his former wife’s house in Los Angeles with a bouquet of flowers and a machete. His ex-wife was with her new boyfriend — KJAZZ-FM (88.1) host Jerry Sharrell — before Vasseghi came in and attacked Sharrell, leaving him injured with stab wounds in the neck and other places.

The police said that Vasseghi held the couple hostage with a machete before they arrived and both men were hospitalized on Tuesday. The woman was able to escape unharmed, but prosecutors are expected to charge Vasseghi with attempted murder for attacking Sharrell.
