Netflix (NFLX) subscribers will be able to watch exclusive content from stand-up comedian Russell Peters starting next month.
Peters signed on with Netflix to release a 70-minute comedy special containing footage from his “Notorious” tour. Netflix will also have a four-part documentary that follows Peters on this tour titled Russell Peters vs. the World. This will mark the first time that Netflix has offered exclusives in the documentary and comedy genres. Peters’ Notorious special was filmed earlier this year in Sydney, Australia and will appear on Netflix on Oct. 14. The documentary will be released at the same time as the comedy special. A limited screening of the Notorious special will also be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival, which will take place next week, reports The Verge.
“Russell’s genius is his uncanny gift to identify the idiosyncratic within all of us,” Lisa Nishimura, Netflix’s VP of originals, told Variety. “He is prolific, fresh and a global force that will resonate with our members around the world.”
