On Monday, a popular children’s cable channel launched its own radio station.
The kickoff of the station from Viacom‘s (VIAB) Nickelodeon was helmed by young singer Ariana Grande, who also stars in the channel’s TV show Sam & Cat. Grande served as Nick Radio’s first guest DJ, the Associated Press noted.
Nick Radio is broadcast on Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings’ (CCO) iHeartRadio Internet radio system, which can be accessed through mobile devices as well as personal computers. The new station can also be heard through Nickelodeon’s website.
The new radio station competes with Disney‘s (DIS) existing kids-themed radio stations.
Shares of Viacom and Disney both slipped modestly in Monday mid-day trading, while Clear Channel climbed about 1%.
