Nissan Recalls Nearly a Million Cars Worldwide

Nissan 1 300x197 Nissan Recalls Nearly a Million Cars Worldwide[1]A problem that can potentially cause engines to stall has prompted Nissan (NSANY[2]) to issue a large vehicle recall[3].

The Japanese auto giant is recalling 908,900 Fuga, Serena, Lafesta and X-Trail models sold around the world. The affected vehicles were manufactured at Japanese factories between 2004 and 2013, Reuters notes.

Defective sensors in the vehicle’s accelerator pads could cause drivers to experience slower acceleration when the pedal is pushed. In some cases, vehicles could stall.

Nissan will replace the flawed sensors. It will also adjust engine control software to correct the problem. Repairing the vehicles should require about 90 minutes of servicing.

The recall covers about 98,300 vehicles sold in the United States.

Earlier this year, Nissan recalled a number of vehicles due to defective airbag systems made by Takata Corp[4]. The recall included about 3.4 million cars made by a number of other Japanese automakers, including Toyota (TM[5]), Honda (HMC[6]) and Mazda.
