The delays will leave theaters without a Pixar movie in 2014. Disney has delayed The Good Dinosaur to Nov. 2015 and Finding Dory to June 2016. This will make 2014 the first year since 2005 that there has not been a Pixar film released in theaters. The reason for the delay is that Pixar needs more time. A Pixar spokesperson said that “quality is the best business plan” when discussing why the films were delayed. While the delays could affect Disney’s next fiscal year, the company seems like it would prefer to delay the movies, rather than put out something that doesn’t match up to Pixar’s standards, reports CNBC.
Pixar films aren’t the only Disney movies being delayed. The company recently announced that it is delaying Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment in the Pirates film series, from July 10, 2015 to 2016.
