Pepsi Invents Way to Add Aroma to Its Packaging

Pepsi (PEP[1]) has developed and patented an aroma delivery system that makes the product more appealing before consuming it.

Co.Exist reports that the new product[2] would make Pepsi cans have a pleasant scent when opening them. Gelatin capsules break and open whenever the cans are opened and they create an aroma that would counteract the packaging smell that many cans seem to have. The company has yet to decide whether or not the aroma delivery system will be used but they have the patent in their back pocket in case they want to use it.

The soft drink company recently partnered up with Frito Lay to release Pepsi-flavored Cheetos[3] in Japan.
