But to create a realistic picture of how men in the U.S. stack up to men in other countries, one artist created 3D illustrations comparing the body measurements of the average American man — aged 30 to 39 — against his counterparts in France, Japan, and the Netherlands.
The results at right are interesting to see.
Artist Nick Lamm used the Body Mass Index (BMI), height, and waist measurement from each sample.
Americans’ BMI was 29 — compared to Japan (23), France (25), and the Netherlands (25). A BMI of 30 is considered overweight.
