In a post on the Internet giant’s social media platform, Sundar Pichai, the head of development for its Android OS announced that the upcoming version of the OS — Android 4.4 — will be named after a popular chocolate snack bar. Previous version of Android have received generic food-based names, including ice cream sandwich, jelly bean, cupcake, donut, honeycomb and gingerbread.

Nestlé would have had to provide permission for Google to use its KitKat brand name. As part of the partnership between the two companies, KitKat will a contest featuring tickets in select bags of KitKats, some of which can be redeemed for a free Google Play online store credits or a Nexus 7 tablet.

There had been speculation that the next version of Android would be called Key Lime Pie.
