Target to Launch New Movie Streaming Service This Fall

Target Ticket users can purchase and rent movies and TV shows

Target (TGT) will soon release a new service that will allow its users to purchase and rent movies and TV shows.

Multichannel News reports that those with Target Ticket will be able to browse through a list of over 15,000 titles and buy movies for $14.99 or rent them for $3.99 or $4.99. Additionally, the service will allow users to buy individual TV shows for $2.99 or full seasons for $34.99 and it will offer next-day access to TV shows.

Target’s new venture will help them compete with other successful movie streaming services such as Vudu by Walmart (WMT) and the iTunes Store from Apple (AAPL). Target Ticket is affiliated with most major networks including ABC (DIS), Fox (FOX), HBO (TWX) and NBC (CMCSA).

The retailer’s video streaming service will be available for both Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple users. Target Ticket will also be available as a smartphone and tablet app in Google Play (GOOG) and the Apple Store.
