A woman is suing the Los Angeles Police Department after she suffered serious injuries from falling from a moving police car.
Kim Nguyen, 28, says she was handcuffed at the time after being arrested for suspicion of public intoxication. It is unclear how fast the police car was moving, but the LAPD has opened an investigation.
The LA Times reports that police officials said they were not certain if an investigation had been launched into the incident prior to the lawsuit. Nguyen said she does not remember now she ended up on the road but that being handcuffed she would have been unable to open the door herself.
Nguyen suffered a broken jaw from the fall.
