Cape Cod, Massachusetts residents living near three, large wind turbines have filed lawsuits after developing wind turbine syndrome from the turbines.
Daily Mail reports that Notus Clean Energy built three 400-feet tall, 1.63 megawatt wind turbines in 2010 and residents of the town of Falmouth have been feeling the effects of the wind ever since. 57-year-old Sue Hobart is among those who felt dizzy, light-headed, headaches, ringing in her ears and occasional insomnia due to the wind turbines.
A doctor at Harvard Medical School went to Hobart’s home in 2011 and felt the same symptoms within 10 minutes, diagnosing her with wind turbine syndrome. The disease is not recognized by the Center of Disease Control but Falmouth residents living within 1.25 miles of the turbines insist that it’s very real.
Notus’ attorney said that the company did not break any laws building the turbines as they are located 1,700 feet away from the nearest home which is 500 feet farther than the law dictates. He added that the company has prevented emissions of more than 7,000 tons of carbon dioxide from power plants.
