Northern London police officers thought that they had found parts of a deadly weapon on a 3D printer but they’re not so sure anymore.
Boston.com reports that after seizing what appeared to be gun components on the 3D printer on Friday, authorities said that these might just be parts of the printer. Police consulted with technology experts to check out what they thought were a plastic magazine and a trigger along with the printer and forensic specialists are examining the pieces to see if they can be used to construct a gun.
The news of the seized 3D printer is alarming when considering what it could mean if these are in fact parts of a gun. The printer could have been used as a decoy to transport weapons without being detected by metal detectors so authorities are hoping that they were initially wrong about their suspicions.
