Five people were injured at the North Carolina State Fair on Thursday when a ride called the Vortex started up while passengers were being unloaded.
The five people were taken to WakeMed hospital after the accident. Two of those people were released on Friday morning. According to preliminary reports, two of the people injured during the accident suffered critical injuries. No specific information concerning the three still at the hospital has been released. Police believe that some of the victims are family, but they don’t know how they are related. Those injured in the accident were anywhere from 14 years old to 39 years old. it is unclear what exactly caused the accident, but police are currently investigating the matter. The North Carolina State Fair will continue on Friday, but the Vortex will remain closed. When police finish their investigation, ride inspectors will go over every part of the Vortex to try and figure out what happened, reports WRAL.com.
