The ‘crazy ants’ invasion has reached new heights extending itself from Texas to Florida and they seem to be unstoppable.
Newsmax reports that several landowners have to destroy thousands of Tawny crazy ants that invade their property every year but they keep coming back. The ants are originally from South America and they were first spotted in Texas back in 2002. They have also been seen in Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and a research scientist says that they are within 4 miles of Alabama.
These insects are not as dangerous as fire ants but they multiply quickly and find their way into warm, tight spaces in homes such as electrical wires, car engines and under floorboards. Unfortunately, traditional extermination chemicals don’t seem to get rid of these animals so scientists are still figuring out a way to get rid of them.
