A violent storm has been devastating to several parts of Southern Britain with winds that have been reaching up to 99 mph near the Isle of Wight.

USA Today reports that the hurricane-like storm[1] has delayed many roads, trains and planes due to the severity of the wind and rain. Additionally, at least 7 have been reported dead and several others have sustained injuries. The coastlines in Cornwall, Devon, East Sussex, Hampshire and Kent have suffered the worst of the storm with hundreds of downed trees and up to 220,000 homes losing power.

Among those who passed away there was a teenager who died after a tree fell on his Kent home as well as a man on his 50s who died after a tree fell on his car. Forecasters believe that the storm will peak by mid-morning today and it should move towards the North Sea after that.
