EA Sports (EA[1]) and Tiger Woods are parting ways after a very successful 15-year video game partnership.

ESPN reports[2] that the ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour’ franchise that sold $771 million worth of games during its lifetime will no longer exist with the golf star. EA Sports said that it will continue the ‘PGA Tour’ franchise but it will no longer use Woods’ face on the cover, his name on the title and he will not appear in any future games.

The video game company’s vice-president said that it was a mutual decision and that the company has always been a big fan of Woods and wishes him continued success. Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg said that they had an ‘incredible run’ and that outside of the John Madden franchise, you’d have a hard time finding a name more recognizable in the world of sports video games.
