A famous cricket player died on Sunday after being hit in the head during a cricket match in South Africa.
The Huffington Post reports that 32-year-old Darryn Randall was hit on the side of the head with a cricket ball while batting during a league match. The former first-class cricketer collapsed after being struck by the ball and passed away on Sunday at a hospital in the Eastern Cape. It is unclear whether or not Randall was wearing a helmet while batting.
Cricket South Africa expressed the league’s condolences to Randall’s friends and family and said that it will offer counseling to those who were part of the match. Randall is perhaps best-known for his time playing for the first-class team of the Border province in 2009 as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
