Ford (F) CEO and President Alan Mulally is not leaving the motor company anytime soon to take the reigns at Microsoft (MSFT).
Or at least that’s what Mulally is saying, shooting down rumors to USA Today that he’s first in line to take over when Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer departs.
“I love serving Ford and have nothing new to add to (my) plans to continue serving Ford,” he told USA Today.
Over the last several weeks, media reports have mentioned Mulally as the leading candidate to succeed Ballmer as the software giant’s CEO.
Mulally is known for his ability to turnaround troubled companies. Before coming to Ford in 2006, Mulally spent 37 years at Boeing where he helped outflank competitor Airbus with the Boeing 777 jetliner. At Ford, he ushered in transparency and transformed the car maker into a leaner company.
Last week, the AllThingsD technology blog reported that Mulally was being considered because of his work at Ford and Boeing, “his reputation as a turnaround expert and his ties to Microsoft.”
But USA Today reports that Mulally’s contract with Ford runs through next year.
