The new app, which is centered on keeping sales with dealers, allows customers to lock in a price for a new vehicle at their computers, get an estimated value for their trade-in, apply for financing and set up an appointment to test drive their new vehicle or have it delivered. GM isn’t requiring its dealers to participate in the Shop-Click-Drive app and has had some turn the offer down. The app isn’t meant to replace dealers or showrooms, but is instead meant to give dealers a new way to reach customers. The company has currently sold 900 cars though its new app. Five of those 900 new cars were shipped directly to customers, but the others were picked up at showrooms, reports The Wall Street Journal.
