Hershey Launches First New Candy Brand in 30 Years

Hershey is releasing a soft caramel crème line that will mark the company’s first new candy brand in 30 years.

The Associated Press reports that the confectionery’s new caramel brand[1] is called Lancaster and it will be released in the U.S. and China for the first time. Hershey decided to release the product in both markets at the same time since American products are becoming increasingly popular in China. The company’s senior vice president of sweets and refreshment said that China is the second largest sweets market in the world behind the U.S.

Years of research showed the popularity of soft caramel products and the potential they have of becoming a big player in the candy industry. The Lancaster sweets will come in three flavors: caramel, vanilla and caramel, and vanilla and raspberry.

The product is being named after founder Milton Hershey’s first candy company, the Lancaster Caramel Co.
