With the holiday shopping season getting ever closer, many Americans will be looking to earn some money by taking seasonal jobs.
According to a survey from job-search website, CareerBuilder.com, more retailers plan to recruit seasonal help this year, compared to prior years. The survey, which questioned 2,099 hiring managers and HR people in businesses of all sizes in multiple sectors, found that 51% of seasonal jobs this year will pay more than $10 an hour.
The survey identified a number of areas that are expected to see the most seasonal hiring this year:
Employers like to rehire seasonal staff they have worked with before with 67% saying they will recruit some of last year’s seasonal staff to handle this year’s business.
Earlier this month, Amazon (AMZN) announced that it plans to hire 70,000 temporary workers at its huge order fulfillment centers this season, up 40% from last year.
