Starbucks' duffin is now available at 730 U.K. locations

200px-Starbucks_Corporation_Logo_2011.svg730 Starbucks (SBUX) located in the U.K. now carry the duffin: a half-donut, half-muffin hybrid.

The new item became available at Starbucks in the U.K. last Thursday. The item follows the growing trend of mixing two bakery items to create a new one. The duffin has a buttermilk base and taste like a moist, almost cake-like muffin. The duffin is coated in sugar and has a raspberry jam filling. The duffin isn’t being tested to see if it takes off, but has instead been added to Starbucks menu as a permanent item. The duffin contains 460 calories and 22.3 grams of fat, reports Businessweek.

Starbucks isn’t the first company to release a duffin. The duffin has been sold for over two years by Bea’s Of Bloomsbury is London. The baker, Bea Vo, use to call them donut muffins, but then some of her customers started referring to them as duffins. Starbucks has trademarked the name duffin, but claims that it won’t sue Bea’s of Bloomsbury for using the name, reports GQ Magazine.
