New Trademarks Hint at More ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-offs

Warner Bros. has trademarked two additional Potter titles

jkrowlingTime Warner (TWX) subsidiary Warner Bros. has hinted at more Harry Potter spin-offs by trademarking several titles from the Potter universe.

The new trademarks may mean that fans will see more films that take place in the world of Harry Potter. Included in the newly trademarked titles are: Tales Of Beedle The Bard and Quidditch Through The Ages. The studio has also trademarked the names Kennilworthy Whisp, who is the fictitious author of Quidditch Through The Ages, Newt Scamander, who is the fictitious author of Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, as well as Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons and Kenmare Kestrels, all of which are names of quidditch teams. The first film in the new series is Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them, which was announced in September and will take place 70 years before the Harry Potter series, reports The Guardian.

Rowling has said that this news series won’t act as a prequel or sequel to the Harry Potter series, but that it will instead be an extension of the wizarding world.
