A school district in Ohio is being forced to take down a Jesus portrait off school property and pay a hefty fine on top of that.
Fox News reports that after being sued by the American Civil Liberties Union, the Jackson School District has agreed to take down a portrait of Jesus Christ and pay a $95,000 fine. The ACLU and the Freedom from Religion Foundation sued the district for “unconstitutional” actions that can cause students to “suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury.”
The legal director of Ohio’s ACLU chapter said that district law states that children from the area are required to go to school and it is not the government’s place to endorse a religion. The Jesus portrait was taken down in April and the $95,000 settlement was finalized in July.
