The new feature, which launches in November, will initially only be available to Twitter accounts of channels owned by Comcast, such as NBC. The feature works by adding a “See It” button to post made by these channels. If NBC makes a post about The Voice, users will be able to click the See It button to check out the show. Comcast customers will have the option of signing into their accounts and may be able to watch the show, depending on the content. Those customers may be able to watch the show through their TV’s and mobile devices, can choose to start watching an on-demand version of the show or they can set their digital recorder to record the show. Twitter users who aren’t Comcast customers will be sent to NBC’s website or mobile app, where they can then watch videos, reports The New York Times.
“Millions of users are exposed to the live conversation that unfolds on Twitter while a show is on the air and now, with See It, they’ll be able to tune in directly from a Tweet,’’ Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, told The Boston Globe.
