Nasdaq Composite pops at Tuesday's open, clears 6,000 for the first time

Smartphone Save Gas Station Attendant From Robber’s Bullet

The victim only suffered minor injuries thanks to his smartphone

There are people who will never be satisfied with technology despite how much easier it makes our lives but it turns out that having a smartphone could save your life.

Time reports that a convenience store clerk was held at gunpoint at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday by a robber demanding everything that was in the safe. Another clerk came in to help the first one open it but they both failed and the assailant got desperate. He decided to flee the scene but shot a single bullet as he escaped which hit one of the clerks in the stomach.

Incredibly enough, the clerk barely felt the bullet because he was carrying an HTC smartphone that stopped the bullet. Neither clerk realized that one of them had been shot until he started complaining of chest pains. After taking a look, they realized that the bullet was wedged inside the smartphone, saving him from a potentially deadly injury.
