Staples to Price-Match Amazon in Stores and Online

Staples (SPLS) got rid of Amazon’s (AMZN) delivery lockers from its stores earlier this year and now it looks to overtake the online retailer as the largest e-commerce player in the business.

Integrated Solutions for Retailers reports that Staples will match Amazon prices both online and in its stores. Staples is already the second-largest e-commerce trader in the U.S. and the company is hoping that by lowering its prices to Amazon’s will boost its sales as the holiday season approaches.

If a customer walks into a Staples store and shows a customer service associate that one of the store’s items can be bought for less on Amazon, the item’s price will automatically be lowered to match that price. Additionally, customers can also call customer service online to get the same price reduction for an online product.
