video game 300x187 Study: Video Games May Reverse Aging in BrainsA new study shows that video games could improve certain cognitive abilities in older people.

USA Today reports that the study — published in the scientific journal Nature – consisted of having healthy people between the ages of 60 and 79 play a driving simulation for 12 hours. The video game is designed to improve attention and focus and older people performed as well people 50 years younger than them. Additionally, the road game had long-lasting effects on the participants six months after playing it such as the ability to multitask and their driving skills.

Scientists said that this study is not justifying the unhealthy obsession that young gamers have with video games such as Grand Theft Auto, World of Warcraft or anything on Xbox or Wii. Instead, the research shows that video games created with a certain criteria in mind can help people improve some cognitive abilities.
