Shoppers in Orlando, Fla., will be the first in the nation to browse the shelves of a store dedicated to adventure and travel footwear from a popular brand.
On Thursday, Deckers Outdoor (DECK) announced that it has launched its first retail store, located in the Orlando Premium Outlets mall. The store takes the name of the company’s Teva footwear division, selling sandals, hiking shoes, boots and sneakers.
In a statement, the company said that the store would “act as a platform for sharing the Teva lifestyle.” Store staff will be available to suggest outdoor activities in the Orlando area, as well as recommend organized activities to customers. Another executive noted that “Florida’s relaxed and casual environment” made Orlando the right place for the apparel-maker to open its first store.
The company will also a free Teva hat to consumers who show up at the store during its opening weekend as long as supplies hold out.
Shares of Deckers Outdoor were flat in pre-market trading on Friday.
