Walking DeadAMC Networks’ (AMCX) fourth season premiere of The Walking Dead set records for viewers and Tweets.

The first episode of the fourth season of The Walking Dead attracted 16.1 million viewers. This beat out the series finale of Breaking Bad, which had 10.3 million viewers. The season premiere also garnered the most Tweets out of all the shows that aired this week with 1.17 million Tweets. The only other show that came close to breaking the million mark for Tweets this week was a Glee tribute episode for Cory Monteith, which received 822,000 Tweets. In comparison, the series finale of Breaking Bad earned 1.2 million Tweets. The TV show that has received the most Tweets ever for a single episode is Pretty Little Liars. One episode of the show brought in more than 1.8 million Tweets. Tweets that count toward an episode are collected from three hours before, during and three hours after the show has aired, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Walking Dead attracted a large number of viewers, but it wasn’t the most watched event on television last week. The most watched event on television last week was an NFL football game between Washington and Dallas, which attracted 22 million viewers.
