After firing a disabled worker for taking too much time for lunches, Walmart (WMT) is backtracking and now wants him to return to work.
Matt Wood had worked as a greeter at a Colorado Walmart since 2008. He sustained brain injuries during a car accident. His wife says that the company should have notified her of any problems with his work performance since she serves has his representative, the Associated Press notes.
A spokesperson for the nation’s largest retailer said that the company had reviewed the circumstances surrounding Wood’s termination and would offer him his old job back.
Earlier this month, a Michigan Walmart fired an employee who became involved in an altercation in its parking lot after he attempted to help a woman who he believed was being assaulted.
In September, 21 Walmart employees in Los Angeles were arrested at a protest demanding higher wages and an end to worker firings. The protest was part of a national campaign that held events in 15 cities against the retailer.
