New research shows that men who eat a lot of bacon generally have a lower sperm count than those who limit their red meat intake.
The Age reports that Harvard University conducted the study which examined the sperm of 156 men in couples who had problems conceiving. The study looked at the men’s diet and compared that to the size and shape of their sperm.
Scientists found that men who ate a lot of processed meat such as bacon, sausages and hamburger tend to have a lower sperm count than those who limit their bacon intake. The research also showed that men who ate white fish such as cod on a regular basis had a higher sperm count than those who rarely eat fish.
