TV viewers and moviegoers may soon see a lot more of Wonder Woman.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the CEO of Time Warner‘s (TWX) Warner Bros., Kevin Tsujihara, said “we need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV,” potentially signaling a push by the studio to revive the superhero’s media franchise.
Tsujihara noted that the box office success of the Superman and Batman movie franchises pointed up the relative lack of franchises for other superheroes. He described that as a “missed opportunity.”
Wonder Woman first appeared in the pages of comic books during World War II. The crime-fighting superhero is simultaneously Princess Diana of Themyscira living under the secret identity of U.S. Army nurse Diane Price.
Wonder Woman spent four year on television from 1975 to 1979 with actress Lynda Carter playing the title role.
In August, Time Warner announced that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the sequel to this summer’s Superman blockbuster, Man of Steel.
