Xerox is trimming some staff at its Commercial Services unit in North Carolina.
Last month, 508 workers at a Xerox call center in the town of Cary were informed that their positions will be eliminated next month. The layoffs include 450 customer care assistants. A Xerox spokesperson noted that job cuts are connected to one unidentified company client, the Associated Press notes.
The company cut 67 jobs at another call center in the state back in August.
Xerox says it is looking to place more than half of the workers at other locations, providing service to different clients.
Late last year, the company announced plans to reduce its worldwide workforce by 2,500 employees as part of a restructuring.
Over the summer, Xerox released a software patch to correct a scanning anomaly that altered numbers in scanned documents when users made manual adjustments to the file compression settings on some of its scanners.
Shares of Xerox sank about 1% in Thursday afternoon trading.
