Several vegetables from the Dominican Republic are no longer in the food detention list after spending 25 years in it.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will now allow these products to be exported without being detained and examined. Vegetables removed from the IA 99-14 alert include green beans, eggplants and chile peppers, according to the Dominican Republic Ministry of Agriculture.
U.S. Embassy Agricultural Attaché Morgan Perkins said that the products will no longer be detained for inspection but they will continue to be monitored. He also highlighted the importance of this achievement which proves that the Caribbean country has made strides over the last 25 years in ensuring proper agricultural practices including the control of pesticides.
