86-year-old Joy Johnson said that she always wanted to die running and it appears as if she got her wish.
Daily News reports that Johnson died on Monday after finishing her 25th ING New York City Marathon the previous day. During the run, she took a tumble and hit her head but continued running. The next day, she was in her hotel room and took a nap while wearing her running shoes but never woke up.
Joy Johnson had become synonymous with running toward the end of her life and she had been running 8 miles a day in anticipation for the marathon. The 86-year-old athlete finished the marathon in seven hours, 57 minutes and 41 seconds.
