Walmart’s (WMT) website experienced a glitch on Wednesday that caused items on the site to be priced absurdly low or high.
The low prices caused by the glitch included treadmills for $33.16 and LCD computer monitors for $8.85. Walmart had the glitch fixed by Wednesday night and has apologized to its customers for the inconvenience. The retailer is also notifying customers who ordered the discounted items that their orders will be cancelled and they will be fully refunded. Walmart will also be giving these customers a $10 e-gift card that can be used for purchases online or on its website, reports the Associated Press.
Walmart released a statement on Wednesday to assure the media that its website wasn’t hacked and that the pricing errors were in fact a glitch. When the company was asked if it would honor the purchases made at the incredibly low prices, it responded that it is “still working through those details,” reports ABC News.
