Super Bowl ads are widely known as the best commercials in the world and companies have been shelling out millions in order to buy a 30-second spot to promote their products.
Media Bistro reports that large companies are rethinking forking over $4 million — the asking price for a Super Bowl ad spot — for only 30 seconds of airtime. Subway, Century 21 and Cars.com are among those who are taking their ads and money elsewhere this year because of the high asking price. Additionally, companies have been spending more money on making more elaborate Super Bowl ads in order to compete with each other.
Some companies are choosing to pay for ad space for the upcoming Winter Olympics which would help companies advertise their products in an international market for a cheaper price.
