Two Dutch artists will be giving a Brazilian slum a new and colorful look over the next couple of years.

ABC News reports that Haas & Hahn[1] are planning on creating a mural called ‘Favela Painting’ through an entire shanty town in Rio de Janeiro. They will use plaster and paint to create bright and colorful facades after reaching their financial goal through Kickstarter on Wednesday. Artists Dre Urhahn and Jeroen Koolhaas said that they are “proud, humbled, but most of all extremely excited” to do this project.

This is not Haas & Hahn’s first mural as they have done multiple projects in Via Cruzeiro since 2006. They expect to finish the first batch of houses in Rio by mid-2014 and they’re hoping that it will attract tourists so they can see the poverty of this area.
