Man Arrested Over Unreturned Library Book

A Texas man was arrested and jailed last week for failing to return a library book.

ABC News reports that Jory Enck[1] did not respond to any calls or emails regarding a GED study book he borrowed from a Copperas Cove library back in 2010. Enck was released on a $200 bond but he’s still awaiting his court appearance for ignoring the library’s calls and not returning the book.

Copperas Cove adopted an ordinance that allows the city to arrest people who fail to contact a library after not returning an item. If a person ignores library calls and emails after a book has been checked out for 90 days or more, a warrant is issued and the case is taken to court.

Enck finally returned the GED study guide to the library after it mysteriously reappeared.
