The new window will make it so that customers whose orders aren’t ready by the time they pull up to the second window will then pull up to a third window to wait for their food. McDonald’s, which has 14,000 locations in the United States, is hoping that this new system will allow it to speed up its drive-thru times, which in turn will allow the restaurant to serve more customers. The fast-food chain makes around 70% of its sales through drive-thru. The third drive-thru window, which is part of the company’s “Fast Forward Drive-Thru”, will start appearing at new and renovated locations next year, reports the Associated Press.
McDonald’s plans to spend $3 billion next year to add up to 1,600 new restaurants and to renovate 1,000 of its current locations.
