MSNBC and Alec Baldwin are parting ways after the actor’s talk show host went on a two-week hiatus.
According to MSNBC and Bladwin’s management team, the split was mutual and Baldwin’s talks show, Up Late with Alec Baldwin, has been cancelled. The split comes after Baldwin was put on suspension from the network in November for yelling homophobic slurs at member of the paparazzi, NBC News notes.
According to TMZ, Baldwin called a paparazzi photographer a “cocksucking fag.”
Baldwin has publicly apologized for using the slurs and says that the fate of the show is no different than many other startup-TV programs, reports NBC News.
GLAAD claims that Baldwin still needs to take action for his disrespect to the LGBT community and that MSNBC has sent an important message to those who use slurs toward homosexuals, NBC News notes.
