NBC Signs Deal to Broadcast Virgin Galactic Space Flight

NBC (CMCSA) has signed a deal with Virgin Galactic to televise the company’s upcoming commercial space flight.

The Associated Press reports that this flight by Richard Branson’s company marks the first of its kind and he will fly with his children Holly and Sam for the historic journey. NBC will show the three of them fly to space as private passengers next year as part of a three-hour Today show special. NBC’s Peacock Productions will have other programming leading up to the space flight through some of the company’s other outlets including CNBC, MSNBC, SyFy, and the Weather Channel.

Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo will leave from New Mexico to space in 2014.
