Home Depot (HD) had a major blunder on Thursday when it tweeted an offensive picture that made its way to the masses before the company took it down.
ABC News reports that the company’s picture showed two African-American drummers with a person in a gorilla mask in between them. The tweet was meant to be part of a college football promotion on ESPN and it asked, “Which drummer is not like the others?” Home Depot quickly took the tweet down but many were able to screenshot it and spread it through social media.
A spokesman for the company said that the person responsible for the tweet has been fired because they have no tolerance for “anything so stupid and insensitive.” He added that Home Depot is trying to figure out how something like this happened in order to make sure it does not happen again.
