Shoppers Livid Over Kmart’s Thanksgiving Plans

Sears Holdings’ (SHLD) Kmart has earned the outrage of hundreds of customers with its Thanksgiving plans.

Kmart customers are blasting the company for announcing that it will stay open for 41 hours straight starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving day. Kmart has been opening at 6 a.m. for the last three years, but this is the first years that the company plans to stay open all of Thanksgiving day. In the last three years the company would close its door to customers and employees at 4 p.m. so that people could make it home for Thanksgiving dinner. Kmart defended the decision to stay open through Thanksgiving day by saying that it would allow its employees to make a little extra money for the holiday season, reports CNN Money.

One Facebook (FB) user wrote on Kmart’s Facebook page that the company should “Keep Thanksgiving a family day.” Another said that the decision was in “BAD FORM!”

Twitter was alive with similar comments.

“Can we not stop the greed machine for one day,” and “Absolute greed by both #Kmart and #Sears. Way to take care of your employees,” are a couple of Tweets from people who are against Kmart staying open for a consecutive 41 hours.
